Moving to the Beat

For our eleven week doctors appointment we got to hear our baby's heart beat...it was a remarkable experience. As Catherine put the doppler to my tummy we could hear the heart beat loud and clear. All of a sudden I felt like one of my muscles cramped up in my abdomen and then the sound faded. She said "the baby just moved" she was able to move the doppler again and catch the heart beat again. I was shocked to know that I am already feeling baby move. Most first time mothers don't feel the baby until 18 to 20 weeks and yet, the last few days i thought I was just having small muscle spasms. I had been reading that when a baby starts moving it is in jerky motions until more of the muscles form and the brain gains more control of the motor functions.

This week baby is about two inches long and weighs about 1/3 of an ounce. He/She is growing at a very rapid rate and I'm still feeling the effects. The last couple weeks have been free of morning sickness with the exception of a little nausea. Last week I had a few evenings of not feeling great but other than that things are going well. Between week 7 and 8 I ended up losing weight and am finally gaining it back.

Alex has been extremely patient with me. I am beyond forgetful and easily distracted. Most of my 'to-do list' doesn't get done each day but he doesn't mind. My level of frustrations has raised from being internal to wanting to step out my front door and scream and my neighbor who likes to rev his engine on his motorcycle every time I lay down from a nap (I haven't done it yet but I'm sure contemplating it). Anyways life is good and I'm still just as in love with my wonderful hubby as the day we got married. We're hoping to get our garden started along with visit to the Ceder Creek Grist Mill.
