Gone Krazy!

So I have found a new hobby and you're never going to believe what it is...COUPONING! I'm crazy about it.

About a month ago I came across The Krazy Coupon Lady's website. I looked around a bit and figured it was another one of these get rich fast schemes. None the less, the book 'Pick Another Checkout Lane, Honey' caught my eye...they have a website and a book?

Before I ever thought about buying the book I went onto Amazon and previewed it, borrowed it from the library and became addicted. I carried that book EVERYWHERE. I learned the tips and tricks of saving money. Saving $5 or $10 on a grocery bill is nice but what about saving 50% or more? What if you could cut your grocery bill in half? What would you do with that money? My biggest goal is to build up our food storage, pay off our debt and save our money for a rainy day...maybe so we can go celebrate our one year anniversary in 5 or 10 years (somewhere other than a hospital).

I finally started putting my binder together about two weeks ago and the number of coupons grew as I printed them from different coupon websites and clipped them from the news paper. By Thursday I had over 700 coupons and my binder was starting to weigh a lot...at least for a binder. The picture to the right is all the coupons I cut out of two Sunday papers. I have learned that you get $100 more in coupons in the Columbian than the Oregonian so from here on out I'll wait till Monday and grab my two copies of our local paper.

So now you're wondering what is the trick to saving hundreds of dollars a month? The answer is simple, it's called 'stacking' & 'Stocking'. Stacking is using multiple coupons/sales on one item to get it for an krazy low price. Yesterday I went to the store to get a few items. Yoplait yogurt was onsale 10 for $5, I had 2 in store coupons for 10 for $4 and two manufactures coupons for $1 off 10. The in store coupon said 'limit 10' so I had to do two transactions but I got 20 yogurts for only $6. This is $0.30 each when I would have normally paid over $0.50 for each. The rule of thumb is when you find a Krazy deal (on things you will use) get as many coupons as you can and stock up (especially if it's non-perishable). If you buy things when they are at really low prices then when you need it you won't have to spend full price.

It does take a while to learn. I'm still learning but I love saving 50% if not more off each transaction. I love seeing the food stocked on my shelves. I love knowing that one day I will not be bound by these manufactures and stores who feel they can charge me what ever they want... and so here it is, my second baby
Now 2.5in tall and weighing 4.8lbs...I told you it was my baby. I have added all the dividers and probably taken the hard route by making my own pocket sheet protectors but I have the ability and I didn't have to spend the extra money to go purchase the pocket pages.

Here is a look inside my binder. I'm working on becoming more organized so I know exactly where everything is. You can print the pages off The Krazy Coupon Lady's website. Also you can print coupons from your computer. Go to coupons.com, smartsource.com, and other trusted websites. You can also go onto KCL's website and she has them listed on there under the 'print coupons' tab. One day I hope to be able to teach classes and share this great knowledge with others but for now free to ask me any questions you have!
Happy Couponing!
