Our Little Family

So it's been a while since I've written and I'm sorry. We have been very busy. Our friend opened up a local shop full of handmade items from local vendors and we were helping her get that going. Alex's business has definitely been growing which has been a blessing to our family. Our little Lukas isn't so little any more. Okay so he's little size wise but he doesn't act like it...

This is a picture of him at the store. Notice the car seat is in the back of the cart. Our little four month old has decided car seats are just NOT his thing.

Oh yes, Mr. Attitude (must be those red highlights in his hair). Daddy was transplanting our indoor garden into larger containers and Luke had to stand up to see...

And last but not least, he's standing, holding onto the tote all by himself. I don't know many four month olds that are able to do this but he sure is determined.
We will be grateful when he is mobile in some way because he can't stand being laid down, it doesn't matter if it's his back or his tummy. He has also become very chatty. He says Mama but normally it comes out mum mum mumaaaaaaa when he's mad cause I don't get him out of bed right away. For daddy it comes out da-ye and the first time, Alex sneezed or coughed he said da-ye awooo. We aren't sure what awooo means but he says it a lot. About two days ago he just started chattering away in his own little language and has ever since.

About three weeks ago we started giving him solid foods. It was a good and yet bad experience at the same time. First off, doctors are NOT always right. I had to stop nursing about a month ago because his doctor kept saying that he needed to gain more weight so add more formula. Well it hasn't helped and I'm not happy that he's on it. The solid foods are great though. He is a bottomless pit and it's easy to make my own baby fruits. The first thing we gave him was rice...this was the mistake. Since he has digestive issues like Alex he didn't do too well. He ended up constipated and up every other night squealing. I don't care what doctors say...suppositories DON'T work. We gave him watered down apple juice, peaches, pears and anything else that would hopefully help. When we went into his doctors he said he could have oatmeal and THANK GOODNESS. He has been a much happier baby and loves to eat. He eats on average of 4 - 6 ounces in a bottle and 2 to 4 ounces of solid food. Here is a picture of him tonight...

He figured out how to reach up and grab his spoon so I let him have it since we're working with the ONLY thing he seems to be behind with is the whole tactile business. Anyways I need to head to bed, it's really late and I'm going to fall asleep on my desk if I don't.

  1. you're right. Doctors are NOT always right! In fact, you don't even want to get me started on that. Anyway, Lilian also stood up at 4 months! He is so cute Ashley. I'm glad to hear that you guys are doing alright. :) Keep me posted!
