Where have we been?

So it's been a while since I've been on here.  Okay, not really, I just have a one year old little boy who keeps me on my toes and never lets me finish the posts that I start writing.

So what have we been up to?  Well a little of this and a little of that.  It all started out few weeks ago.  We got bombarded with business which is a great thing except that we were on the go from Monday through Friday and home only on the weekends.  We ended up going down to Fry's in Willsonville to get a couple parts that our local supplier didn't carry.  On our way home we decided to go out to dinner.  We went to the Olive Garden in Lake Oswego.  We got Luke an order of Macaroni and Cheese while I ordered a chicken caesar salad and Alex had some chicken dish.  Luke loved sharing bites with daddy but he didn't like the dressing off mommy's salad (although he will eat the salad dry).  The other thing he didn't like was the garlic salt on the bread sticks.  I attempted to get some good pictures but most turned out too dark or blurry.  While flipping through my computer a few minutes ago I found this picture and thought I must show everyone.

Sorry it's so dark.  It's one of those that I couldn't use my flash with but his face was totally priceless.  Alex and I spent most of dinner laughing at Luke for one reason or another.  I wish we could have video taped the whole dinner.

Next came getting ready for Luke's birthday party.  Back in late August we shampooed our carpets.  When we did this we quickly moved everything into our kitchen...and it had been there ever since.  I'd been working on getting stuff put away little by little but for every thing that I put away, three or four more things got put in there.  It took me a full day to finally sort through everything and get it put away.  Our kitchen was clean but then came the living room.  Since Alex had been booked up I spent most of the time in cleaning while attempting to get Luke to cooperate with me.  This is not an easy task and he does NOT like the playpin.  October 21st came and we were ready.  I made Luke's little cake.  Having everyone over for his birthday was a lot of fun.  We enjoyed getting to see a lot of our family from near and far.
He sat still long enough to open about gift...
Then he stood, he stood longer than he ever had before, he loved that old fashioned top that his GGma gave him.

Here is his little cake...
  And he was so neat...

Okay, neat fora little boy on his first birthday.
Since Luke always loves going into any pet section that has fish.  About a month before his birthday Alex and I started looking at getting him fish.  Grandma Johnson went with us and helped get some of the stuff for his tank and the fish.  He loves to stand and watch them swim back and forth.

Our next goal is to have Luke out of diapers ASAP and since he's now walking...yes I said walking, we're working on it, we're also moving into cloth diapers while at home or while we're out for short periods of time.  I've looked all over for cloth diaper covers.  I'm not talking the old plastic ones that you used with prefolds, I'm talking like the gdiaper or the fuzzibuns kind of covers but I refuse to pay $11 to $18 per cover.  Our solution?  Make our own.  We purchaised one pack of the g-diapers and bought a bunch of fabric.  I'm working on sewing these and I'll post something when I'm done.  In the mean time, here is a cute picture of our happy big boy on the big potty.
Hope you've enjoyed.  Our further adventures will follow shortly!
