Grateful for my Calling!

A couple months ago I was given a calling at church, one I never thought I'd have, or at least not yet! I was called as the assistant den leader for the bears (9 year old boys). Due to the holiday season we haven't met a lot, and just as we get going in this new year they release the den leader leaving me to figure this out. With mothers in panic mode wondering "is my son going to make it?" I was really trying to figure out how the boys earn each thing and what the requirements are. This made me grateful for younger brothers who have been through this and at LEAST I had done some of these activities with them.

Progress Towards Ranks

This one took me a while to figure out.
Who is this for?

How do the boys earn the beads?

Who: This is for boys who are a wolf or bear.
How: This allows boys to see their progression by earning a bead for every 3 requirements they accomplish.

This last week we finally got the boys all their beads according to what they had earned. I loved seeing the smiles on their face as I handed them another bead to mark the progress they had made.

My next goal was to get the boys books and find out where they are. Due to having so many boys getting ready to move up I feel obligated to help them finish even if that means that I have to push a little. I was happy to find that two of the boys had successfully made it to the rank of a bear with another possible two with in the next week or two.

The last thing I need to do is get a consistent schedule done up so that we have something to work with to make sure the boys get what they need. I am excited to have this group of boys and the ones that will be coming in shortly!
