Two weeks before Christmas Alex came down with a cold. By Christmas he was starting to feel better but was still really tired. One more week passed and he seemed to be doing good.
Three weeks after him finally feeling better he went to bed one night feeling achy and had a head ache. I woke up the next morning to a very sick hubby. Not really knowing what to do I checked his temp and grabbed the washrags. All he could repeat was "cold, cold" after I stuck cold washrags on his forehead and feet. His temperature fluctuated through out the day. By that afternoon we had come to the conclusion that he had the flu. All I could do is pray that I didn't catch it while trying to take care of him. Alex's home teaching partner had offered to come over and give him a blessing if he would like and he accepted. Adam and Aaron showed up that evening. Aaron, being a nurse, took a look at his throat. Swollen and yucky it was. He suggested that we get him into urgent care the next morning, he could possibly have strep, mono, or the H1N1 virus. We debated take him in on Monday. We didn't have insurance and no job to pay for it what were we to do? Pray and pray hard were the only options I could come up with. Monday afternoon we took Alex in to the urgent care and he was tested for strep. The nurse came back in and said that he tested positive and the doctor would be in to see him. I had been praying that it was just part of this flu thing that he had because we sure couldn't afford medication. Well the doctor was great; he gave us ten of the sample boxes of the medication for Alex (they would have been $400), I couldn't be more grateful.
Over the next couple days I kept gargling really salty water to fight off the strep. It worked...for a couple days. Alex ended up taking me into the urgent care Wednesday and I was diagnosed with a minor case of strep. I was also put on medication for ten days, lucky me I could be on the inexpensive stuff. The medications make both of us sick but other than that we're both feeling better. We are grateful to be coming off them this week so that we may get back to our everyday life and hopefully be able to find jobs soon.
We are greatful that you guys are feeling better.
