So yesterday was quite eventful. On Tuesday mornings we have a networking meeting at 7:30am in Kelso for the business. After that we sat down with Jim, the guy who runs the networking meetings. Running any business in this economy is tough and so I wanted a way to help bring in more business so that we could pay things off and eventually be debt free. Jim is a distributor for a company called Send Out Cards and he is always talking about it. When he first sat down with Alex to talk about networking, he went over what he does. I went through the website and really looked at what it was about.
Send out cards was started by a guy who didn't act on a prompting. Funny way to start a business right? Well Kody, the CEO and Owner of Send Out Cards felt a prompting one day to go say goodbye to his brother before leaving. He didn't act on that prompting and because of it, he never got to see his brother again. At that point he made a promise to his brother that he would never again not follow through with a prompting. When Kody started he was running the business out of his trailer sending out 500 cards a day. Now Kody owns multiple warehouses around the world that print, and mail over 50,000 cards each day. Jim has been a distributor for a while now and when I talked to him, I had a good feeling, I felt like I could make someone's life better and best of all, we felt like we could benefit.
When we sat down with Jim he sat his computer on the table and I had Alex's. Little did I know there was a glass of water sitting right behind Alex's computer but as soon as I moved it I knew. Water poured all over Jim's laptop. I was in total shock and felt horrible. Alex stripped everything down and blew out the little bit of water that had gotten in while Jim and I set our new account up. We were just finishing up as Alex got done and got it working again. Wheeeew what a relief. After we got home we thought it would be funny to pour water onto the 'tough book' and take a picture. We did just that and made it into a card that said "Because you're tough"
Note there was no damage done to the laptop but we did end up getting an email from Jim saying that His wouldn't turn on and it wouldn't charge...let me tell you, that is a gut wrenching feeling. Alex told him to put it in a cardboard box and put it somewhere pretty warm. Like something in a tote on a warm day, the moisture condensates, but rather than beading up, the cardboard absorbs it and keeps it away from the computer. This morning we got a call saying it's able to turn on now, it just won't hold a charge at all and he wasn't too worried about it. I'm grateful for people like Jim, forgiving and always willing to help!
